The Weight of Nothing
the looming vastness
of distance (strong and aching)
between the me
I am struggling to remember
and the you (omniscient in theory)
…your own
collide with slivers of wood
paint thinner, and a barrage of gun-like tools
this
fills me up to
the whiskey on your breath
the smell of God’s burden of gifts
a tonic I inhale
in wafts of your sighs
praying for thirty seconds
of understanding relief
when you purposely forget
without purpose
the love we made moment
you might as well
watch me drift away
in an eerie speed of light
I am gone (regretfully)
why should I linger
alone
in a desert of indifference
